Renaissance Star Assessments
Renaissance Star Assessments are computer-adaptive tests (CATs) for pre-K—12 students that measure reading, math, and early literacy skills.
CATs are computer-adaptive tests that adjust based on students’ responses. If your student answers a question correctly, the next one is more difficult. If he or she answers incorrectly, the next is easier.
Teachers use the data from Star Assessments to answer essential questions he or she has about their student’s learning needs and to improve academic outcomes for all the students in the class.
Star results are used to:
Measuring general achievement in reading, math, or early literacy
Identifying what skills a student is ready to learn
Helping plan instructional support activities
Tracking progress toward academic targets
Estimating student proficiency on state tests
Estimating student mastery of standards
Monitoring student intervention progress
Purpose and Use of the Assessment
ARCHDIOCESAN LEVEL
Monitor overall progress and growth of ASF schools
SCHOOL LEVEL
Monitor the overall progress and growth of the school
CLASSROOM LEVEL
Provide benchmark data to identify if students are on track for high and college readiness and achieving sufficient growth
In conjunction with classroom data, identify students in need of additional support
STUDENT LEVEL
Provide students and parents with benchmark data of overall progress and growth
For students in need of intervention:
Provide teachers with diagnostic data to determine interventions
In conjunction with classroom data, monitor progress to determine if support should continue, modify, or end
